FAQ

Where is the office located?

My office resides in a three-story office building. You will need to take the elevator, located in the middle of the building, to the third floor.

You can park on either the front or back side of the building. Enter through the double doors with the building address numbers above them – 13550. Once you exit the elevators, please take the right hallway, and my office is the last one on the left, Suite 370.

13550 Village Park Drive, Ste. 370
Orlando, FL 32837

Is your office handicap-accessible?

Yes.

Are there other things I should know about your office?

My office suite has three offices, with two offices occupied by mental health service providers. Please silence your phone and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere when entering the office suite. When your provider is ready to see you, they will come out of their office.

If you need to take a call, please exit the office suite into the hallway, where you can speak freely. If you watch videos or listen to music on your phone in the waiting area, please use a headset. We want to respect others’ need for a relaxed, calming atmosphere and honor those doing their work in the offices.

This consultation is a 15-minute conversation where you and I discuss your coaching needs. The talk helps me learn more about you and your current challenges to see if we are the right fit for coaching. In addition, you will have an opportunity to ask me any questions that you may have about the coaching process or me as a coach.

Who is your perfect coaching client?

I connect well with people motivated and ready to get uncomfortable and be honest and genuine. I want people to lean into the yucky, embarrassing, and confusing parts of themselves to make lasting changes in their life.

What are the age ranges of your clients?

I work with all ages, including children as young as 4 and adults as old as 100 years. We are capable of learning new things at any age.

Do you work with men? Women? Couples? Adolescents?

Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes! We all need support and guidance at times. I provide a safe, judgment-free zone for us to work through life’s toughest challenges.

Are you LGBTQIA friendly?

Yes, all are welcome.

Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions?

Yes. As a Christian, I believe that love in its truest form is how we love God. One cannot claim to love God if they mistreat, judge, or exclude people in their actions and mind. This behavior is the opposite of love. True love manifests in our actions and primarily in how we show love to others who are different than us.

I identify primarily as a Filipino-American. My mom emigrated from the Philippines in the late 1960s. She married my dad, who was serving in the Air Force. He was born and raised in Connecticut, and my mom had to learn a new culture and customs and experienced a lot of racism in our town.

My parents later divorced, and my mother became a single mom. Early in childhood, I recognized that I was very different from the other kids in my class. Kids bullied me for being Asian. We could not afford the best things, but my mom provided for all my needs. I shopped at thrift stores and wore hand-me-downs.

I am thankful for my childhood and would not change one thing. Through these experiences, I have learned to value the simple joys in life – my health, family, church community, clients, and fur babies.

I have worked with people from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions. These experiences as a coach have enriched me and taught me how to be a more effective coach.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is collaborative. We will use our time to review your paperwork, clarify your goals, identify the obstacles holding you back, and develop strategies for overcoming each obstacle. The first session lays the groundwork for the succeeding sessions.

What is coaching like with you?

I work hard at providing a safe space for you to explore the yucky, messy, and embarrassing parts of your life. You will feel comfortable and safe because there is no judgment, only compassion.

We will work as a team to identify your current strengths and pain points. We will leverage your strengths and then create goals to minimize your pain points. In between sessions, you will receive homework to help you focus on what we discussed.

My goal is to equip you with the tools to get the most out of your coaching sessions.

What is the average amount of coaching sessions that you recommend?

Typically, 6-12 sessions are the average. It truly depends on the complexity of the challenges and the client’s motivation.

Does anyone cry in front of you?

Yes, but remember the safe space that I create for you. This safe space allows my clients to let their guard down and feel their emotions. Crying is our body’s way of releasing; it is a cathartic and necessary response.

Who benefits from coaching?

Anyone motivated and believes that they can change the stuck and yuck things in their life benefits from coaching. The coach guides and empowers the client, but the client sets the goals and determines what success looks like to them.

How do you work with clients?

I see the client as the expert in their life. They know what is not working and are looking to me to help them fix it. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can freely explore their stuck and yuck patterns.

We collaboratively identify the challenging patterns. I provide new tools to break out of old mindsets and engage in new behaviors. The client actively documents the tools and creates their goals with the appropriate action plan. It is a transformative and fantastic experience.

What can a coach do?

A good coach can help you rediscover what you love about your life, work, relationships, and yourself. It starts with self-awareness, a foundational skill for personal and professional development. If we do not know what is not working, how can we work on it?

Collaboration is key. You’ve heard, “Teamwork, makes the Dream Work!” This statement is true because working as a team provides accountability, improves decision-making, and leverages two minds instead of one.

Together, we can create a plan tailored for your life and the unique challenges that have kept you stuck. You gain confidence in yourself, and now the momentum has shifted towards growth – your personal growth. What a beautiful process!

What are the risks and benefits of hiring a coach?

You will invest your time, energy, and money into your personal and professional growth. If you do not show up for coaching ready to engage and trust the process, you waste your time and money.

There is a risk that you may fulfill your true potential, which can feel scary. You may wonder, “Will those who love me expect me to be this connected, balanced, and productive ALL the time?” From my experience, the answer is No. They will not expect perfection from you, but instead, they will cheer you on, appreciating the sacrifice and work you have put toward your growth.

Do you offer video or phone sessions?

Yes, I offer both video and phone sessions.

What else can I try to help myself?

Many helpful and effective books, podcasts, and YouTube channels promote self-growth. My favorite books are – “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey and “Your Brain is Always Listening” by Daniel G. Amen. I also like Dr. Caroline Leaf’s podcast – “Cleaning Up the Mental Mess,” Sam Harris’s podcast – “Growth Mindset Podcast,” and numerous TEDx Talk videos on YouTube and the Be Inspired YouTube channel.

These are great resources, but I feel they all lack one essential piece – accountability. Let’s face it, we all need someone to keep us accountable. A good life coach can provide accountability and help you find your intrinsic motivation to do the hard work, guide you to the right resources, and help you create a plan tailored for your specific challenges.

Is our work confidential?

Yes, absolutely. You will receive a coaching agreement that is a contract between you and me. It will detail our roles in coaching, and one of my roles as your coach is to keep your information private and confidential.

What are your strengths as a coach?
I believe that I have a unique set of strengths. First is my training and education. I am a trained Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with additional certifications related to helping clients achieve optimal mental health and healthy relationships and develop growth mindset strategies.

Second, I have a diverse background culturally, professionally, and relationally. My unique worldview of living in a Filipino household and seeing my world through a different value system allows me the flexibility in my thinking to appreciate and admire others’ worldviews, customs, and values.

Professionally, I have experience working in corporate America for 18 plus years and now own two businesses – a counseling and coaching practice. I learned many excellent skills and mindsets from my work in corporate and can transfer them to my two companies.

And lastly, I have done my work in therapy and coaching to create a safe, nonjudgmental, creative, and compassionate space for you to do your work. I will be your biggest cheerleader, calling you on your BS with compassion to help facilitate self-awareness and change.

Why did you become a coach when you already have a thriving counseling practice?

That is a good question, and sometimes I ask myself, “Why did I take on another business?” I enjoy seeing my clients grow and change, and I wanted to be a part of that journey for those of my counseling clients who completed therapy.

Therapy helps clients heal from the past and provides them with coping skills for the present, whereas coaching helps clients into the future and allows them to become change agents in their lives. I find that clients in therapy or who completed therapy are some of the best coaching clients.

The bottom line is that I love both counseling and coaching. I love seeing people set free from their yucky patterns and live more abundant and meaningful lives. If I can play a role in any part of that journey, then sign me up.

What is the best way to get in touch with you?

You can text me at (321) 300-6840 or email me at tanya@connectedlifecoach.com.

Is your furniture comfortable?

Yes, super comfortable. I have clients who like to lie on the couch, which works, too.

What brand of tissues do you offer?

I provide only the best, three-ply Kleenex with a virus guard. You will not leave my office with random pieces of tissues stuck to your nose, eyes, or cheeks. You deserve the softest pillowy tissues cradling every cathartic tear.

Am I allowed to ask personal questions?

Yes, but I may not answer all of them. If I feel that the answer may negatively affect your progress in coaching, then I will try to be curious with you and understand the why behind your question.

Remember, coaching is about you, and your growth is my priority.

What apps make your life better?

I could not live without my calendar, Dunkin Donuts app, the weather app, and OpenTable. I love food, and OpenTable helps me explore fun places and avoid wait times.

Rock, Paper, Or Scissors?

I like Paper because most people believe that Rock is superior. 🙂

Cats or Dogs?

Both! I have two dogs – Zeke and Shadow – and two cats, Kumo and Nula. They are the most loving, crazy, cuddly, and happy creatures. If I could take in another cat and dog, I would!
